Technological advances, customer needs, growing companies and shifting strategies mean employees are constantly working on developing new skills to meet business challenges. How can companies prepare their workforces to face all these goals head on?

This panel will approach key elements and lessons learned when implementing a reskilling strategy in a legacy organization and in a growing entrepreneurial company, as well as perspectives from the human capital side. The conversation will be moderated by MBA students and include time for questions and answers from the audience at the end.

Panelists include:
  • Diane Gherson. Diane recently retired as an officer of IBM after serving seven years as Chief Human Resources Officer, responsible for the people and culture of IBM's global workforce of 360,000. She is a Senior Lecturer in Organization Behavior at the Harvard Business School.
  • Thomas A. Kochan. Thomas is the Post Tenure George Maverick Bunker Professor at MIT Sloan and a faculty member in the MIT Institute for Work and Employment Research. His work focuses on the need to update America's work and employment policies, institutions, and practices to catch up with a changing workforce and economy.
  • Katie Burke. Katie is the Chief People Officer at HubSpot and an MIT Sloan Alum. She started HubSpot’s culture team and oversaw global communications during the company’s IPO. She previously acted as Director of Marketing and Corporate Partnerships at Athletes’ Performance (EXOS) and a Director at the Glover Park Group.
