2. One is considered a member of this club in any given academic term if (s)he has

The "Ask Me Anything" series of events provides firsthand personal perspectives on elements of personal identity. Past events have addressed national, religious, racial, sexual, and ethnic identity, the Veteran experience, and themes such as mental illness and hearing loss. Typically, a small panel of community members provides brief introductions then addresses questions that people may otherwise be hesitant to ask. Our goal in offering these panels is to advance understanding and dialogue. We encourage faculty, staff, and students to attend these events to learn more about the issues and how to be effective allies and leaders, both within the MIT community and beyond.

The MIT Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition (ETA) Club seeks to educate and inspire MIT students to pursue ETA upon graduation. To facilitate this, the ETA Club brings together business owners, private investors, advisors, alumni and students to discuss acquiring and running small companies, with an emphasis on search funds and micro private equity. The Club fosters a supportive community aimed at accelerating students' progress towards launching their own fund by providing introductions to investors, advisors and internship opportunities, as well as by conducting educational events. The ETA Club's signature event is the annual ETA@MIT Summit.

What is ETA? ETA is an entrepreneurial path that encompasses searching for and acquiring an existing business (typically a family business with $5-50M of revenue), then taking a leadership position (typically CEO) in that business. ETA is most commonly accomplished through a search fund, or by raising money from outside investors to fund your search and acquisition.

Mission
The mission of the MIT Financial Literacy Club is to empower Sloanies with the knowledge and tools necessary to make informed financial decisions, fostering a foundation for lifelong financial well-being. The club aims to bridge the gap of financial literacy inequality, offering a safe space to ask questions, learn hands-on through workshops, seminars, speaker series, and from resources specifically tailored to the unique needs of Sloanies and the next generation of world leaders.
By collaborating with industry experts and leveraging the academic prowess of our MIT professors, the club strives to create an environment where financial education is accessible, relevant, and impactful. Through the MIT Financial Literacy, every member will have the tools, confidence, and knowledge to navigate the uncertainties and complexities of the modern personal financial world.

No other Sloan group has offered personal financial literacy to its students. And shockingly, according to a LendingClub survey, 49% of individuals earning $100,000 still live paycheck to paycheck. Since there is a high chance that Sloanies will become 6-figure earners at some point in their careers (if not already), it is incredibly important for them to be equipped with the tools NOW so they can manage their money.

The key thought here is that income does not equal wealth. Wealth creation and management is so much more about income, and that’s exactly what the MIT Financial Literacy club will teach Sloanies.

The club will be broken into 3 main categories:
• Academic
• Practical
• Social

Academic –
• I come from a 7-year career in wealth management, hold my Certified Financial Planner™ license, am a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor, and hold my Master of Science Degree in Personal Financial Planning, so I can draw from my real-world and academic background to teach Sloanies about financial literacy and money management.
• We have already had substantial interest from other MIT students – as well as financial experts from outside of the MIT walls – who have already graciously volunteered their time and talent to the MIT Financial Literacy Club to discuss money topics to the students
Practical –
• Following the MIT saying, Mens et Manus, the MIT Financial Literacy club will combine the theoretical (learned from the academic side) by implementing the concepts into their daily financial lives. Examples could include building a monthly budget, starting an automatic savings plan, updating their investment strategy, developing a plan for retirement (or starting to think about how retirement should look like for them), etc.
• The practical nature will be implemented through workshops and Q&A sessions primarily
Social
• Of course, the MIT Financial Literacy club will also serve as a social setting for students to meet like-minded individuals and develop further, stronger bonds with the incredible MIT community

To give Sloanies an opportunity to explore existing interests and discover new avenues into the automotive and mobility industries. A secondary purpose to the club is to strengthen relationships with automotive and mobility companies in an effort to increase interest in internship and full-time recruitment of MIT Sloan students. The automotive and mobility industries are rapidly evolving given the introduction of ride-sharing services, electric vehicles, and autonomous vehicles. Through this club, Sloanies will be able to partake in this evolution.

Furthermore, the MIT Sloan School has deep ties to the automotive industry. Alfred P. Sloan, our school's namesake, was the Chairman, CEO of General Motors from the 1920s to the 1950s. This club would not only honor our school's heritage, but it would also help MIT Sloan build a presence in the automotive/mobility space, something our school lacks today.

Internal Competition / Conference
MI3 hosts an internal competition in the Spring to decide which team will represent MIT Sloan at the international MIINT competition. The teams will be judged by a panel of expert impact investors. Following the competition, there will be a series of panels on trends in impact investing and a happy hour.

Training Series
The training series teaches students how to make an impact investment in an early stage social enterprise and prepare them for the MIINT competition. The series contains several 3 hour intensive workshops, developed in collaboration with Sloan Finance Department and the Sustainability Initiative. Industry guest speakers will also be invited to have the practitioners' perspective and insights.

Lunch Series
The lunch series is a more informal way to meet current students, alums, and other experts working in impact investing. Through the lunch series, student will be able to get a better understanding of the different career options in the space.

Treks
In collaboration with the VCPE club, Net Impact, and a few other industry-specific clubs, MI3 organizes treks to impact investors in the Boston and Washington, DC area.

Recruiting Support
MI3 shares a resume book with impact investors in our network for summer internship and full-time recruiting. We also share summer internship and full-time position postings as they become available. To ensure our members are well equipped for recruiting we provide guidance on writing cover letters/resumes and preparing for interviews.

MIINT Competition
One of the MI3's core action learning activities is the MBA Impact Investment Network and Training (MIINT), a program run by the Wharton Social Impact Initiative in partnership with Bridges Ventures. In this program, teams are organized by sectors (e.g. healthcare, financial inclusion, environment) and go through the full impact investing process: conducting research on sectors, sourcing potential social ventures, completing due diligence, writing an investment memo, and presenting to an investment committee. The winning team will receive a $50,000K investment in the social enterprise they pitched. Mi3 has a designated "Fellows" program for students who are interested in participating in MIINT. Students must apply to become a fellow and are organized into 5 sector teams (each with ~4 students).

Members will receive the opportunity to participate in at least one SEID consulting project during their time at Sloan. Projects involve working on a team of 4-5 Sloanies with diverse business experience to address a high impact initiative at a startup in a developing nation. Partner organizations come from a variety of sectors and meet with their SEID team on a regular basis to provide feedback and guidance. Projects typically span 10-12 weeks, beginning in October and February. This includes 1-2 weeks to agree on scope, 5-8 weeks of research and problem solving, 2-3 weeks to finalize recommendations, and a final presentation of deliverables.
