Join the MIT Sloan Wine Club as we welcome Ron Sanchez, founder and owner of Domaine Verdant, to share the story and wines of his celebrated Yamhill-Carlton estate — a rare, personal walkthrough of one of Oregon’s best-kept secrets.

Domaine Verdant’s ten acres sit among the oldest plantings in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, deep in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, where ancient glacial-flood soils give its Dijon-clone Pinot Noir and Chardonnay a distinctive mineral edge beneath their rich, expressive fruit. True to his “quality over quantity” philosophy, Ron makes only about 800 cases a year and holds every bottle back — sometimes for years — until he judges it ready to drink; what little leaves the estate tends to land on the lists of Michelin-starred restaurants rather than retail shelves. You won’t find Domaine Verdant reviewed by critics or listed online — this is a true insider’s pour, and a real privilege for us to host.

Ron brings the same exacting rigor to Verdant that defined his decades as a scholar: he is Professor Emeritus of Management in the Department of Strategy and Innovation at Copenhagen Business School, where his influential research on competence-based strategy shaped how businesses think about building lasting capabilities — a lens he now applies, by his own admission, to coaxing the very best out of every vintage.
