Dear Sloan Students,
At MIT Sloan, we take pride in fostering a community that is open, inclusive, and welcoming to all. Student-led clubs and conferences are central to this culture—spaces where we connect, contribute, and grow together. These platforms thrive when every student feels seen, valued, and included. As partners in the Student Life Office, we’re committed to supporting clubs and conferences that reflect the full diversity of our Sloan community—across all degree programs and experiences. Here are three key reminders to help guide our shared efforts this year:
Every Program Enriches Sloan: Sloan includes students from seven master’s programs—EMBA, MBA/LGO, MBAn, MFin, MSMS, SFMBA—and PhD students in Management. Each brings unique perspectives and energy. Clubs and conferences should reflect this diversity in participation, membership, and language. Reminder: All Sloan students are welcome to join any club, regardless of degree program or experience level.
Use Inclusive Language: When promoting opportunities, avoid program-specific terms like “ocean,” “first-year,” “CBC,” or “core team.” Instead, use inclusive alternatives like “cohort,” “incoming student,” or “graduating student.” These small shifts make a big difference. Thank you for helping build a stronger, more inclusive MIT Sloan. We’re excited to support you throughout the year.
