What do YOU love about Sloan?

Enter for a chance to win 2 tickets to see the Boston Celtics take on the Brooklyn Nets on Valentine's Day (Feb 14th).

We want to hear from you! The Student Life Office is celebrating the entire Sloan community and all the Sloanies who make MIT Sloan the amazing and caring place it is. What do you love most about Sloan? Who makes the Sloan community better? Tell us what you love most about being a Sloanie and nominate someone (student, faculty, or staff) who makes Sloan a better place for a chance to win a pair of Celtics tickets for both you and the person you nominate on Valentine’s Day!

Fill out this survey by February 1st to enter the contest. 8 entries will be selected and winners and the people they nominated will each receive a pair of tickets to see the Celtics on February 14th!

SLO Focus Groups
Join us for a focus group to help us better understand how MIT Sloan students experience our core principles of Caring, Contribution, and Community. There are virtual sessions throughout January, and in-person sessions in February. We want to hear from all of you! Some focus groups are for specific programs, and others are open to all Sloan students.

Embark on a Lego-filled journey with MindHandHeart! Enjoy snacks, drinks, and a bounty of Legos to craft your unique masterpiece. Capture your creation in a photo, share it on social media, and stand a chance to win an MIT Values t-shirt. This event is walk-in only, so bring your friends and let the building begin.

Community Wellness Mini-IAP Courses

Did you know MIT Medical and Community Wellness offer 3-week mini courses focused on health and wellness?
  • Mindfulness IAP mini-course. For students interested in practicing meditation, this course teaches a variety of mindfulness meditation skills to try and integrate into daily life. Learn More.
  • Sleep Better Tonight with Yoga. This workshop will include an overview of why yoga can be helpful and a demonstration of three gentle yoga poses for sleep, which can be done in a small space using a chair. Learn More.

MIT getfit 2024 Registration Open Now

Need some motivation to get and stay active this winter? Join the MIT community for the 20th anniversary of the getfit challenge! getfit is a 12-week, team-oriented fitness challenge open to the entire MIT community, including students, faculty, staff, affiliates, and family members. getfit 2024 will start on Monday, January 29. Get your team of five to eight members registered before the end of the day on January 21, and get ready for all the fun, camaraderie, perks, and potential prizes that come with participation.

Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday 

Monday, January 15th is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a federal holiday that is observed for MLK's birthday. Both MIT and the Student Life Office will be closed.

IAP Beginners Bachata and Salsa Dance Classes      

Join the Latinx Graduate Student Association (LGSA) this IAP for a series of instructor led Beginners Dance Classes. Get moving, make some new friends, and learn both single and partner dancing. These classes are best suited for absolute beginners, but dancers of all levels are welcome to participate! You do not need to have a partner to participate.

  • Salsa Fridays: Fri. Jan 12, 19, 26, and Feb 2 | 4:30 - 5:30 PM | Kreisge Auditorium W16 - Rehearsal Room B
  • Bachata Monday: Mon. Jan 15, 22, 29 | 5-6 PM | Rainbow Lounge (50-250)
Participants are welcome to register for several classes to practice and build-on your dance steps. Registration for all classes is on a rolling basis using this form.

Sloan Healthcare Innovations Prize Competition 2024

Do you have a groundbreaking idea in healthcare or biotech? This is your opportunity to showcase your idea by entering the Sloan Healthcare Innovations Prize (SHIP) Competition and compete to win up to $30K! SHIP aims to support early-stage healthcare ventures by providing feedback and networking opportunities with experienced industry and investment professionals. Apply for SHIP by January 21, 2024.
