About:
Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Shalaby is the Co-Founder, President & CEO and Board Member of Tatweer Misr, a position he held since mid-2014, responsible for managing the company including the business development and the strategic planning for Tatweer Misr’s major projects. In addition to his work with Tatweer Misr, Dr. Shalaby serves as a Member of the Egyptian House of Representatives and Chairman of the Housing, Public Utilities, and Urban Development Committee. Also, Dr. Shalaby is one of the founding members of the National Front Party and Secretary of the Central Secretariat for Housing and Urban Development, a member of the Urban Development and Real Estate Export Committee – Specialized Advisory Committees of the Egyptian cabinet. Dr. Ahmed is also the Chairman of the Egyptian Real Estate Council, the vice-chairman of the Real Estate Export Council, co-chair of the Real Estate committee at the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt (AmCham), Board member at the UN Global Compact Egypt, founding member of Chapter Zero Egypt, a member of African Business Leaders Coalition (ABLC). Besides the mentioned titles, Dr. Ahmed is a professor of Architecture and Urban Development at the Department of Architectural Engineering at Cairo University, Egypt; as well as a former visiting assistant professor at the Department of City and Regional Planning at Cornell University, USA.
Prior to the inception of Tatweer Misr, he has held several prominent positions; he worked for the Egyptian Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities as a technical advisor to the Minister.
With over 30 years of experience in the management of major real estate portfolios, working with Al Fawares Holding in Egypt and for Mostakbal city, where he held the position of advisor to the chairman. Dr. Shalaby holds a bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering which he received in 1993. Afterwards, he pursued his studies and went on to receive his master’s degree in 1998, followed by his PhD in Urban Planning, which he received in 2003 through a joint program between Cairo University, Egypt and Cornell University, USA.
