SECC is planning a visit to Commonwealth Fusion System's SPARC facility on Friday, April 11th. CFS is an MIT spinout that has raised over $2 billion and is leading the charge in revolutionizing clean energy with fusion technology.

SPARC is paving the way for the urgent transition to clean, safe, zero-carbon fusion energy. In 2027, it’ll become the world’s first commercially relevant fusion energy machine to produce more energy from fusion than it needs to power the process — a threshold called net energy generation or Q>1.

CFS is building SPARC at a 60-acre campus in Devens, Massachusetts, where a team of physicists, welders, technicians, computer scientists, and more are working to make it happen.

Below please find the details about the visit:
- Date: Friday, April 11th, 2025
- Time: Tour will last 11:00 to 13:00 hours
- Site is ~1 hour away from Cambridge, so we have to leave 9:30 am and would be back by 14:30
- Closed shoes and long pants would be required for the visit. Work boots are ideal, sneakers are allowed. No shorts.
- There is limited parking at the site, so we all have to arrive together in the designated vehicles
