What does it take to build a company that can see inside what the world manufactures? Hear it from Eduardo Torrealba, co-founder and CEO of Lumafield. Lumafield builds industrial X-ray CT scanners and software that let manufacturers see inside products without cutting them open, turning the physical world into data that AI can learn from.
Eduardo’s path is a founder’s playbook in four acts. He co-founded a soil-sensor startup in grad school that was later acquired by Scotts Miracle-Gro. He spent four years leading engineering on Formlabs’ Fuse 1 3D printer, followed by a year freelancing for 10+ hardware startups while hunting for his next idea. Then, in 2019, he saw his first industrial CT scanner, right here at MIT. Today Lumafield has raised over $190M and runs scanners in factories on three continents.
If you're interested in building hardware, manufacturing products better, or using data to solve the world's toughest problems, this is a talk for you. Bring your questions!
