Subject: Solve-a-thon at MIT with free training and lunch!
We finally received confirmation on Saturday’s event, it will be held at the Boston Marriott Cambridge in Kendall Square. See below for the invitation that will go out shortly, I wanted to give to you for sharing. During sign-in’s on Saturday we will set up the groups we discussed.
We would like to invite you to a very unique quantitative finance competition—the Solve-a-thon at MIT—along with free training and lunch!
MIT’s Solve program and MIT Technology Review are hosting a competition focused on quantitative finance, sponsored by WorldQuant and powered by WorldQuant’s WebSim platform. This quantitative challenge provides interested candidates with an opportunity to test their trading ideas and strategies using WebSim, WorldQuant’s web-based market simulator.
Qualified candidates earn points for quality alphas, and these points can lead to cash prizes, which will be distributed by MIT. During the first Solve-a-thon at MIT, a student from Baruch College in New York achieved the top score and earned $10,000! There are 30+ other opportunities to earn cash prizes, and there will be an inter-university aspect to the competition as well; more details are available here.
HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?
1. The first step is registering at www.WorldQuantChallenge.com and then logging into your account to accept the guidelines for the Solve-a-thon at MIT.
2. If you are in the Boston/Cambridge area on Saturday October 1, you can join us for a free, live, hands-on training session on WebSim. This optional training will be held in conjunction with HUBweek at the Boston Marriot Cambridge (Endeavor Room) in Kendall Square. The training will run from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm ET, followed by free lunch and an opportunity to develop your ideas on WebSim that afternoon with representatives from WorldQuant onsite to answer questions. If interested in attending this live training session, please RSVP to jeffrey.scott@worldquant.com by Friday Sep 30 at 8:00 pm ET. Be sure to bring your laptop!
3. You can also join us for an online Information Session on Monday October 3 from 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm ET to get more details on the Solve-a-thon at MIT: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/rt/7712245410811609859
WebSim is WorldQuant’s web-based simulation platform through which WorldQuant maintains its own WorldQuant Challenge, a global alpha building competition in which qualified candidates test their skills building predictive financial models. Top performing candidates may attain Bronze, Silver, or Gold status. Those that achieve Silver or Gold status may be considered for an opportunity to become a Research Consultant for WorldQuant.
You are sure to learn more about quantitative finance and building predictive models through these events. We hope you will join us!
Good Luck!
