2025 Pre-F(x) Trip: Portland, ME (Miley Cyrus)

About this trip

Come kick off the semester with a chill Labor Day weekend in Portland, Maine!

Before we’re all deep in deadlines and team meetings, we’re heading up the coast for a classic New England escape — fresh air, good food, and even better company. It’s a chance to decompress after orientation, spend time with some welcoming, curious classmates (first- and second-years alike), and ease into Sloan life with great company, coastal views, and the kind of conversations that don’t happen in a classroom or at a big mixer.

We'll leave Friday morning, stop in Portsmouth, NH for lunch and a quick wander, and then make our way to Portland, Maine — where the weekend might include:

🍻 A brewery tour (drinking optional)

🛶 Kayaking or paddleboarding

🥾 A light hike

🎲 Sloan Olympics (very low stakes, very fun)

🛋️ Time to just hang out and chat with your new classmates

Itinerary

Friday, Aug 29 – Depart & Settle In

We’ll head out from Cambridge in the morning, stop in Portsmouth for lunch, and get to Portland by the afternoon. Dinner, games, and relaxed conversation to kick things off.

Saturday, Aug 30 – Play & Chill

Start the day with a group activity (kayaking, paddleboarding, hiking — your call), then gear up for some Sloan Olympics. Think goofy, optional, accessible, and all in good fun. Dinner, game results, and bonding round two that night.

Sunday, Aug 31 – Explore & Reflect

We’ll do a bit of sightseeing — explore Portland’s charming Old Port district, check out a lighthouse, and head to an optional brewery tour (or a great coffee spot). That evening, we’ll have a farewell dinner and swap favorite moments from the weekend.

Monday, Sept 1 – Head Back

We’ll wrap up with an easy breakfast, pack up, and head back to Cambridge with a little more seafood in our bellies, Maine in our souls, and new close friends for the rest of our MBA adventures :)
