Sloan Energy Club: Offshore Wind with Ali Alrayes (Vineyard Offshore, LGO '20)

Join the Sloan Energy Club as we welcome MIT LGO Alumnus Ali Alrayes of Vineyard Offshore, who will be providing an introduction to the booming Offshore Wind sector, including global developments, the rapidly growing US market and the wide range of companies involved in making these giant developments a reality.

The Offshore Wind sector is poised for dramatic growth in the US as development costs fall and new site leases become available, spurred on by an enormous advantage over onshore renewable resource (both wind & solar) which is often located far from coastal populations, and cannot be connected to load centers due to the costs and permitting hurdles of major transmission developments.

Ali graduated from MIT Sloan in 2020, and has since worked with Enel Green Power in their Energy Storage team, before moving to Vineyard Offshore - the team behind 'Vineyard Wind', the first commercial scale offshore wind project in the US, which broke ground in November 2021.
