Past Highlights: Women's History Month 2024

1. Spotlight Awards

We had a record-breaking year with 50 nominations and 27 featured profiles. Thank you to all of our nominators, nominees, and features!

2. Coffee Chats

We paired staff volunteers together for 32 chats, offering opportunities for connections across offices and job functions, sharing of best practices, and learning about colleagues' interests. Thank you to all of our staff volunteers!

3. Learn & Connect Event

Co-sponsored by the ABAC ERG, this event provided space for colleagues from MIT Sloan and across MIT to take a break and have some fun. We played games, created art, and shared about how we were feeling inspired. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped with planning!

We asked participants: Which opportunities for learning new skills have you recently pursued (at MIT/MIT Sloan or away from the office)?

"Management coaching course to help not just to manage teams but how to coach people and help them grow professionally." (Anonymous)

"I finished my doctorate last year." (Heather Curran, Director, Financial Planning and Operations • MIT Sloan Finance)

We asked participants: Who is the most influential woman in your life? How do they inspire you?

"My grandmother was! She was the first female faculty at University of Hartford business school and was such an inspiration as a career woman, family member, and beyond." (Lindsey Nicholson, Associate Director, MBA Career Development • MIT Sloan Career Development Office)

We asked participants: Which quality was displayed by a colleague or peer in the past week(s) or month, that you would like to cultivate for yourself?

"Directness - being a people pleaser like me is detrimental to my well-being at times. I have seen women who are direct in a respectful and kind way that establishes clear boundaries and not over-committing themselves which I would like to cultivate for myself." (Anonymous)
