This fireside conversation is with Arpa Garay ('00), founder of Harp Healthcare Advisors and former C-suite executive at Moderna and Merck. Topics include career decision-making in the life sciences, trends in health AI adoption, consumerization and its limits, and comparative global healthcare systems, with attention to what this might mean for students entering the field.

She has served in C-suite roles at Moderna and Merck & Co., and currently contributes strategic insight and governance experience as an Independent Board Director at DeepIntent, Inc., a Private Equity–backed healthcare-technology company using AI to optimize medical advertising and patient engagement.
As the Founder of Harp Healthcare Advisors, LLC, Arpa advises AI, venture-capital, private-equity, and biopharma organizations on commercialization, digital strategy, and value creation.

Is the Director of the MIT Sloan Health Systems Initiative and a Senior Lecturer at MIT Sloan.
Her work focuses on health systems transformation, and the role of information technology in supporting that change.
Prior to her doctoral work, Anne was a management consultant for fifteen years, specializing in improving decision-making and investment processes in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and financial services industries.
She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in chemical engineering from MIT. Anne earned her doctorate in information systems at Boston University, where her dissertation research explored how globally distributed groups of experts recognize and respond to operational problems.
