Join us for a conversation on The Business of Sustainable Farming, featuring local Massachusetts farmer Scott Sauchuk. This event will explore the real-world economics behind running a small-scale farm and the broader sustainability challenges and opportunities facing local agriculture. Scott will share insights from his journey—from backyard gardening to managing a diversified farm business with a corn maze and community grocery store—and discuss how thoughtful land use, economic resilience, and innovation intersect on the farm.

About the Speaker:
Scott Sauchuk studied engineering at MIT and Salem State, later earning a master’s degree from Boston College. Before farming, he worked in geology, which sparked his interest in agriculture. His farming journey began by planting strawberries and vegetables in his backyard, eventually leading him to leave his job and pursue farming full time. Over the years, he expanded his land holdings in Plympton, MA, and launched a popular corn maze and a small grocery store selling local goods. In his spare time, Scott enjoys working with hard tech like Arduino and spending time with his family.
